Mexican Feast Supper Club | 2nd October

On Sunday the 2nd October we teamed up with Mauricio Rico and took over the School of Wok for an afternoon full of Mexican flavours, cocktails and “cerveza”.

This followed the first Eat Latin supperclub at the beginning of the year. This time around the theme was Mexican food. After a few meetings and mezcales, we came up with a menu that evoked our childhood memories and new flavours we thought worked well together.

During the day, people were welcomed with a refreshing “Palomegranate” cocktail made with Tequila 8, hibiscus, pomegranate and grapefruit. This helped people open their appetite to what was coming.


A five course meal was served, starting with Huitlacoche croquetas served with a trio of salsas with different levels of spiciness. The croquetas’ moreish flavour kept everyone wanting more. It was then time to move to an all time classic (with a twist), “Al pastor” tacos served with pickled onions and grilled pineapple. At this point it was time to bring out the “cervezas” because everyone knows that tacos and cervezas go great together. For those non-drinkers and because at the end of the day it was a Sunday, we also had Horchata and Hibiscus water on tap.


Third and fourth courses included a prawn tostada, a crispy corn tortilla covered with avocado cream, prawns and salad and a lamb cutlet served with a nut-free Mexican pesto and green rice on the side.

Having enjoyed the first four courses, it was time for dessert. A slice of raspberry, almonds and coconut tray bake served with homemade ice cream made with champurrado, a traditional Mexican hot drink made with maize flour, chocolate and cinnamon, once again evoking memories of Mexico in the autumn/winter.


To wrap everything up, we finished the afternoon with a celebratory tequila shot with all the great people that made this first big supper club possible. We hope to continue this events in the months to come.
